This arrangement comes from work I did over the summer. I finally had the chance to play it for the first time as part of a From the Top taping that took place in San Antonio, TX @ Laurie Auditorium, 2008.09.13. Sadly, the performance of this great Kurt Cobain song occured the same weekend one of my favorite writers, David Foster Wallace, took his own life. His wife discovered he'd hung himself in their home in Claremont, CA, where David was an inspirational presence at Pomona College. 'Infinite Jest' is in my top-five books of all time. It's devastating to know that such a voice will be silent forever more. Both David and Kurt will be sorely missed.

new material:
this audio came out of live video capture for eventual uplink @ NPR Music. our radio broadcast innaugurated their beautiful new concert hall, and a great Steinway concert grand was graciously provided through Steinway's Boston affiliate. the instrument was lovingly prepared (and vigilance was key, as i knocked a solid tuning for a loop with the pieces i was recording) and looked after by Shaun O'Connell, an artisan and a gentleman.
thanks as always to the discerning ears of our From The Top sound crew, Berred Ouelette, Dan Hallas and John Servies.
thanks to David Balsom for putting it together, and to Elizabeth DeVore who takes waay too good care of me, onstage and off, and for Reid Mangan, who shot the first one (Lost of Love, presently up on NPR Music) so well, i'm looking forward to seeing more. thanks, Reid.
cheers
