barbara pease renner is a master piano technician, and has done superb work on a number of concert instruments i've enjoyed over the years (including the piano in residence @ mechanics hall in worcester, ma; an especial favourite). she comes to cleveland occasionally and i'm lucky enough to be able to hire her to maintain my 1901 mahogany steinway 'b' (rebuilt with the magnetic balance action to the original book specs by master technician, richard davenport) that resides in our sagamore hills ohio home.
barbara is an animal lover, and of course has made fast friends with our felines @ the house, but it was a real surprise to all when elliott, our platinum point tonkinese (from nancy mikita, master tonkinese breeder in the CLE area), displayed a natural affinity for hammer voicing!
here are a few shots of barbara and her apprentice at work:

Elliot displays great depth of understanding of piano hammer felt. He is an
inspiration to all of us two-footed technicians.

And Elliot certainly has a way with clients. Look how relaxed the owner
appears.

Yes, the owner looks so happy and satisfied knowing that he has finally found a
technician willing to sink his teeth into the job.

Or in the words of Marty Hess, RPT: "when you voice a piano like that, the
tone has a certain 'bite' to it".
